সময় বিকেল ২টা ৪৫ মিনিট, তারিখটা ছিল ১৯৭১ এর ৭ই মার্চ। ঢাকার রমনায় অবস্থিত রেসকোর্স ময়দানে (বর্তমান সোহরাওয়ার্দী উদ্যান) প্রায় ১০ লাখ মানুষকে যেন প্রাণের জোয়ারে উদ্ভাসিত করেছিল একটি কথা “এবারের সংগ্রাম আমাদের মুক্তির সংগ্রাম!! এবারের সংগ্রাম আমাদের স্বাধীনতার সংগ্রাম।“। কে ছিলেন তিনি?? তিনি ছিলেন হাজার বছরের শ্রেষ্ঠ বাঙালি, স্বাধীনতার স্থপতি বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবর রহমান।
১৮ মিনিট স্থায়ী এই ভাষণ যেন আজও কোটি কোটি মানুষকে আবার নতুন করে যুদ্ধে যাওয়ার নেশায় মাতিয়ে তোলে। মূলত এই ভাষণটি তৎকালীন সময়ের জন্য ছিল যুদ্ধে নামার এক শক্তিশালী অনুপ্রেরণা। কারণ স্বল্প সময়ের এই ভাষণে বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবর রহমান স্বাধীনতা যুদ্ধে ঝাঁপিয়ে পরার জন্য অনেক যুক্তি তুলে ধরেছিলেন। যেমনঃ
প্রথম যে যুক্তিটি হল তা হল ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান। অর্থাৎ, পাকিস্তান ও ভারত নামক দু’টি রাষ্ট্রের জন্ম হয়। মাঝখানে ভারত নামক বিশাল রাষ্ট্র রেখে দু’পাশের দু’টি অংশ নিয়ে পাকিস্তান রাষ্ট্র গঠনের ফলে এক অদ্ভূত ভৌগোলিক অবস্থান তৈরি হয়।
পাকিস্তানের সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠ জনগণের ভাষা বাংলা হওয়ায় ভাষা নিয়ে দ্বন্দ্ব তৈরি হয়। আর দ্বন্দ্বটি শুরু হয় ১৯৪৮ সালে পাকিস্তান গণপরিষদের প্রথম অধিবেশনে পাকিস্তানের রাষ্ট্রভাষা হিসেবে উর্দুকে গ্রহণ করার প্রস্তাব উত্থাপিত হলে।
১৯৫২ এর ভাষা আন্দোলন অনেকটাই মুক্তিযুদ্ধকে অনুপ্রানিত করেছিল কারণ ভাষা আন্দোলনের মাধ্যমে পাকিস্তানের দু’টি অংশের মধ্যে প্রথম সংঘাতের সৃষ্টি হয়। এবং বাঙালিরা আত্মসচেতন হয়ে ওঠে।
এরপর ভাষণে সামরিক শাসন প্রত্যাহারের দাবিটিও যুদ্ধের জন্য গুরুত্বপূর্ণ কারণ ছিল, ১৯৫৮ সালে পাকিস্তানের তদানীন্তন প্রেসিডেন্ট জেনারেল ইস্কান্দার মীর্জা সামরিক শাসন জারি করার পর বঙ্গবন্ধুসহ বহু নেতাকর্মীকে গ্র্রেফতার করা হয়।
১৯৬৬ এর ছয়দফা ঘোষণা, ১৯৬৯ এর গণঅভ্যুত্থান এর মূল পতিক্রিয়াই ছিল ৭ ই মার্চের ভাষণ।
১৯৭০ সালে আওয়ামী লীগ পাকিস্তানের জাতীয় পরিষদ নির্বাচনে নিরঙ্কুশ সংখ্যাগরিষ্ঠতা অর্জন করে। কিন্তু পাকিস্তানের সামরিক শাসকগোষ্ঠী এই দলের কাছে ক্ষমতা হস্তান্তরে বিলম্ব করতে শুরু করে। মূলত তাদের উদ্দেশ্য ছিল যে-কোনভাবে ক্ষমতা পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানী রাজনীতিবিদদের হাতে কুক্ষিগত করে রাখা। পরিস্থিতি সালাম দিতে তৎকালীন পাকিস্তানের প্রেসিডেন্ট জেনারেল ইয়াহিয়া খান ৩রা মার্চ জাতীয় পরিষদ অধিবেশন আহ্বান করেন। কিন্তু পরে অধিবেশন মুলতবি ঘোষণা করেন। এরই পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে পূর্ব পাকিস্তানের জনগণ ক্ষুব্ধ হয়ে উঠে এবং বঙ্গবন্ধুর নেতৃত্বে শুরু হল হরতাল। ডাক আসল অসহযোগ আন্দোলনের। আর এর পূর্ণ রুপ প্রকাশ পেল ৭ই মার্চ রেসকোর্স ময়দানে।
মূলত এই ভাষণে নিগ্রত ও আক্রমন প্রতিরোধের আহবান এবং সেই সাথে দাবী আদায় না হওয়া পর্যন্ত পূর্ব পাকিস্তানে হরতাল চালিয়ে যাওয়ার ঘোষণা জানিয়েছিলেন। ৭ই মার্চের ভাষণের পিছনে রয়েছে দীর্ঘ আর্থ-সামাজিক ও রাজনৈতিক প্রেক্ষাপট।
স্বাধীনতা বাঙালির শ্রেষ্ঠ অর্জন। তবে এ স্বাধীনতা একদিনে অর্জিত হয়নি। মহান ভাষা আন্দোলন থেকে স্বাধীন-সার্বভৌম বাংলাদেশ অর্জনের এই দীর্ঘ বন্ধুর পথে বঙ্গবন্ধুর অপরিসীম সাহস, সীমাহীন ত্যাগ-তীতিক্ষা, বলিষ্ঠ নেতৃত্ব এবং সঠিক দিকনির্দেশনা জাতিকে কাঙ্ক্ষিত লক্ষ্যে পৌছে দিয়েছিলো।
